From the Pages of The New York Times: Dell to Acquire Perot Systems

Dell has taken action on founder Michael Dell’s long-term vision of putting the company’s cash stockpile toward acquisitions in the services field, paying a sizeable $3.9 billion in order to acquire I.T provider Perot Systems (founded more than 20 years ago by former Presidential candidate Ross Perot).

Although in a statement Dell calls the acqusisition “a premium asset with great people that enhances our opportunities for immediate and long-term growth”, the company’s services will still be dwarfed in comparison to such giants as IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
