From the New York Times: ‘EBay Sells Most of Skype to Private Investors’

After initially outbidding Google for ownership of the Skype communication service, EBay failed in their subsequent attempt to sell the acquisition to the search engine giant after reevaluating the hefty purchase.

Now the online auction house is slicing up a big old hunk of the Skype pie and serving it up to a group of private investors.

“EBay announced a deal Tuesday to sell its Skype online calling service to a group of private investors, led by the Silicon Valley private equity firm Silver Lake Partners.”
